Hello lovelies, today I’m sharing my favourites of the month with you guys. May is definitely one of my favourite months of the year, it’s my birthday month, the weather always seems to perk up about this time and everyone seems to be in a much better mood in general. I had many a favourite this month, so I had to narrow them down to a handful of my most loved. Enough babbling, let’s just jump straight in shall we?
I’ll kick off this favourites with a really witty book that had me giggling this month, it’s called Started For Ten and it’s written by David Nicholls (the author who wrote One Day). I rarely laugh out loud when reading a book but I just couldn’t stop myself sniggering while reading this one. The main character Brian talks us through his challenges in his first year of university where he finds himself in cringe-worthy situations and incredibly lovestruck with the goddess of the halls of residence.
We have two makeup favourites this month, the first being the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour which I picked up in Bristol in early May, in the shade HD Seduction. It’s quite a nude pink colour but it dries a bit darker on the lips, almost like ‘The Kylie Jenner’ lip colour and it looks flawless on. They feel quite creamy when first applying them, but they dry beautifully matte but aren’t drying like a lot matte lip products, I’ve even bought two more from the collection in the shades in HD Flirtation and HD Love. Watch this space for a full review of the collection.
The second is a repurchase and a firm favourite in my collection, it’s my Sleek Face Form Ultimate Contour Kit in the shade Light. I’ve used this palette for a couple of years now and my old one is looking rather shabby, especially because I hit pan on the bronzer a while ago. The colours go perfectly with my fair skin and when I’ve have fake tan on, so a great all year round face palette. It feels so nice to have a shiny new one in my collection again.
I refound my love for The O.C this month and now I love it even more, I first started watching it back when I was 13 but only got a couple seasons in and suddenly gave up for some reason. It was made over ten years ago so it’s so fun to look at those swaggy flip phones and flared jeans, which we all totally rocked back in the day.
I think we all know the logistics of dry shampoo, but I just thought I’d share this cute little Batiste one I’ve used up this month, it has such a lovely scent and really hides my oily roots when I’m putting off washing my hair.
This month was the first time I tried a detox tea or ‘teatox’ as most people call it, I decided to try the Bootea 28 Day Teatox to go in hand with my cutting down on shitty food and going to the gym a bit more. It cost around £25 for both the daytime tea and the bedtime one together which I think is a fairly good price. A week into the teatox, I discovered that you’re not supposed to drink the bedtime tea EVERY night because it contains a laxative, so I wasn’t feeling too great if you know what I mean… I didn’t notice dramatic weight loss, I don’t tend to weigh myself nowadays just because it gets me down and I’d rather focus on the way I look and feel rather than numbers on the scale. I did feel more energised drinking these and noticed my sleep was much better than normal. The tea was actually really tasty, which I was not expecting as most detox teas are known for having a strong green tea taste. I’m considering repurchasing again in the summer when I can really focus on losing all my flubber and becoming much healthier again.
My favourite films of the month have to be Eye In The Sky and X-Men: Apocolypse, both very different films but really enjoyable. X-Men was definitely underrated by critics, in my opinion, it was much better than Captain America: Civil War, which received a lot of praise and hype.
